Soft bounce is a concept used in email marketing to describe the result of an attempt to deliver an email to a specific recipient. It is a bounce rate, which differentiates from the hard bounce.

A soft bounce occurs when an email is temporarily undeliverable to the recipient’s email address. This may be due to reasons such as a full inbox, a temporary problem on the recipient’s server, or an oversized message. Unlike hard bounces, soft bounces are temporary errors and often resolve themselves. However, it is important to keep email lists up to date to detect potential errors. If soft bounces occur repeatedly with a specific e-mail address, it may be indicative of a more serious problem that requires attention, such as a misspelled address or a misconfigured server.
